Privacy Policy
This policy says what happens to your data when you use Should I Stay Here?, one flow at a time. We rate areas, never people.
Without an account
The link you paste goes to our server, which reads the public listing page to find the location and the reviews. The link is not stored tied to you.
Your recent analyses (link, listing name, city and score), the dates and guests you typed and the listings you compared stay in your browser, for a week. Clearing the site data clears all of it. A cookie keeps the language you chose for a year.
If you share an analysis, a copy of it (score, map and texts — never who analysed it) stays on our server for as long as the link exists, at the public address you received. To take it down, write to privacy@shouldistayhere.com.
With an account
When you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, e-mail and profile photo. The account holds the lenses you build and the avatar you choose. Session cookies keep you signed in.
If you gave your trip dates and have an account, the day after check-out we send one e-mail with one question: was the neighbourhood what the score said? Answering is optional, and it is the only message we send.
Product usage
To understand where to improve, we record pages visited and actions in the analysis flow, and we record sessions with every typed field masked. Browser console logs are part of the recording. When you sign in, that usage is associated with your e-mail. The nights and number of guests of an analysis travel as its properties. We also measure how people arrive here with Google Analytics, which receives the measurement and never advertising signals. This data is not sold.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask first: nothing is measured until you accept, and you can change your choice at the end of this page.
Services the analysis uses
To draw the page, your browser loads third-party content, which receives the network address of your connection: the maps and terrain, the photo of the place, and the street view, loaded only when you open that panel.
On the server, a third-party language model receives surroundings data and excerpts of public reviews to write the notes. It never receives your name or e-mail. A stay-search partner receives the area and the travel dates, never who you are.
Public reviews
We read the public reviews of the listing you pasted, only to show what guests said about the safety of the surroundings. They are about the place, not about you. We do not keep who wrote them.
Booking links and commission
Links to Booking® pass through an address of ours. At that moment we read the country the click came from, to pick the partner programme of that market. We keep only the country and the path taken, never who clicked.
If you book, we may receive a commission. The same goes for tours through GetYourGuide. The price for you is the same, and the score never changes because of it.
What we do not do
We do not sell data. We do not infer a profile from your behaviour: the lens is the one you choose. We do not post anything to your social networks and we access only your basic profile and e-mail.
Deletion and contact
You delete the account in the app itself, under "Your account": it is gone at once, with the lenses and the photo. What lives in your browser, only you clear, in the site settings.
