The score is for the area, not the room.
You already know whether the flat is pretty. What nobody tells you is whether it is worth waking up there. That is all we measure: from a link, or a spot marked on the map, before you book.
What goes into the score
Four blocks, measured once from the exact point of the listing, or the spot you mark on the map, with public map data. Each part has its own note: you can see what pulled the score up or down.

The lens is yours
A family with children and someone who will walk all day do not want the same area. So the same measurement can be read through different lenses: Balanced gives the four blocks equal attention; Short stay and Long stay pull towards the outing or towards daily life; Family, Walking tourism and Waterfront come ready-made.
Signed in, you build your own: what weighs more, what stays out of the score and what needs to be close. The lens is chosen before and stays fixed in the analysis. The score does not change after it appears.
When we do not know, we say so
Every analysis carries a coverage seal, from wide to partial. When the data is thin, the verdict softens instead of pretending certainty. The maps come from OpenStreetMap; the position of many listings, from Inside Airbnb (CC BY 4.0).
How the house pays for itself
- With your travel dates, we show bookable stays on Booking® nearby and across the area, ordered by our score, in your lens. Without dates we do not search: a suggestion that may be full is not a suggestion.
- If you book through one of those links, or a tour through GetYourGuide, we may receive a commission. The price is the same and the order is not for sale.
- You can also put up to four of your own listings side by side, in the same lens. The comparison is between the ones you chose, not between whoever pays to appear.
What we do not do
Price, cleanliness, room reviews, amenities, cancellation: the platform already does that. Quiet, view and internet: we do not measure them, and we do not pretend to.
Safety does not become a score: we show what guests of the listing itself said about the surroundings, in public reviews.
Questions that come in
- Is the score for the room?
- No. The score is for the area around the stay: what there is to see, whether you can walk, what solves the day-to-day, and how you leave the city. Price, cleanliness and room reviews stay with the platform.
- Can I analyse without a listing link?
- Yes. On a computer, on the home page, pick the “a place” tab, search the neighbourhood, street or city and click the map to mark the spot. The score is for the area around that spot, with the same lenses and dates.
- Why did the score move a little when I analysed again?
- Before booking, Airbnb shows a shifted point inside a circle of a few hundred metres. Two different points inside that circle can move the score by a few tenths. The margin is Airbnb’s, and the analysis says when it exists.
- What is partial coverage?
- Our data comes from public maps, more complete in some cities than in others. When data is missing, the seal says so, and the verdict softens instead of pretending certainty.
- Do you earn from the booking?
- If you book through the Booking links, or a tour through GetYourGuide, we may receive a commission. The price is the same and the order is not for sale.
